Exhibition: dienacht Publishing – From Photozines to Photobooks
November 3—20, 2026
Ured Za Fotografiju
At the beginning of November, the Spot Gallery will welcome Calin Kruse, editor and publisher of dienacht Publishing, an independent publishing house based in Leipzig, Germany. The programme brings together an exhibition of dienacht Publishing’s publications, an artist talk, and individual portfolio review sessions for photographers developing their own artistic projects. The exhibition will feature a selection of publications showcasing the diverse possibilities of photographic publishing – from photozines and small-scale artists’ projects to handmade, experimental, and collectible editions. At the heart of the programme is the photobook as a distinct artistic medium in which photographs, sequencing, text, graphic design, paper, binding, and format work together to create meaning. The programme also raises broader questions about the place of the photobook today: why do artists continue to choose the printed object in an increasingly digital culture? How does the materiality of a book shape the way photographs are read and interpreted? And what financial, logistical, and creative challenges do small independent publishers face? Exhibition will remain open until 20th November 2026.
A conversation between curator Tena Starčević and Calin Kruse can be found here.
