BOOK-MAKING: The Artist Book / Photobook
Lecturers: Calin Kruse & Yana Kruse / dienacht Publishing, Patricia Morosan
CONTENT
This workshop will explore the artist book and the photographic book as an intensive theoretical – practical reflection. We will review all the key aspects of a book production, such as design, materials, pre-printing, printing of the book, financing or production costs to the whole process.
Consisting of a 7 days of bookmaking activities, participants will be encouraged to engage in and consider how aspects of photobook-making – such as research, image-making, editing, sequencing, design, text, scale, sensation, physicality, materiality and more - can transform work that is deeply introspective into something that also resonates strongly with others.
During this workshop, participants will form a nurturing community in the peaceful Greek island Aegina where they can each discuss, conceive, design and create a photobook maquette or book-object made out of their own work, supported by the collective insight, input and guidance of the workshop-leaders, the team, and their fellow peers.
Stationery materials and a series of binding tools will be at the participants disposal. Printing costs & specific materials according to each project are additional.
The workshop is open to all those who wish to deepen the creative processes using the printed page. It is recommended to have an advanced or finished project.
