This was the Magazine Salon in Düsseldorf

We had a very good weekend in Düsseldorf displaying all those amazing photo magazines we received. The visitors were fascinated by the sheer amount as well as the individual publications. There was no point in time during the two days when no one was at the Magazine Salon. Normally there would be 10-15 people prowling around, sitting or standing at the tables and enjoying the publications.

It was such a success that we would like to carry on this project. So we are planning to exhibit the magazines again soon, at different venues; we’ll let you know about future events.

We’re also working on an own website where there’ll be a list of the archive, some additional information and a news section with upcoming Magazin Salon events. And: if you’re part of a photography-related magazine and we haven’t got in touch with you yet, please get in touch with us.

In the meanwhile, take a look at some pictures from the first Magazine Salon event:

The Magazine Salon is a project initiated by Calin Kruse (dienacht Magazine), Leon Kirchlechner (Der Greif), Shahin Zarinbal & Sina Michalskaja (KRAUT Magazine).

Magazin Salon in Düsseldorf

For the first time, the Magazine Salon will take place during the Duesseldorf Photo Weekend 2014. In the form of a pop-up library, it will give an overview over the contemporary photography-related magazine culture. The visitors are invited to take a breath, sit down and skim through a fine and diverse selection of international magazines with and about photography.
The Magazine Salon will take place at the NRW-Forum and is organised by dienacht Magazine Der Greif and Kraut Magazin.
If you’re part of a photography-related magazine and we haven’t got in touch with you, please get in touch with us.

The 4th issue of TISSUE Magazine features contributions from OLIVIER ZAHM, MARTIN EDER, AYZIT BOSTAN, ADRIAN CRISPIN, MAXIME BALLESTEROS, HART + LËSHKINA, ROTGANZEN, NICO KRIJNO + MIGNONNE VAN EEDEN, ANGGA PRATAMA, MARILI ANDRE, TIM BUENING, BRITTA THIE, LINA GRÜN, MARIANNE MARIC, IVGHENY KOSTHIN, and last but not leaset SASHA KURMAZ who also did the covershot.

MAJOR LEAK: a very personal interview with OLIVIER ZAHM talking about hating the countryside, discovering photography, making moments, making magazines, and making his first book, DIARY — from which we are lucky enough to be the first ones to show some exclusive images.

ALSO NICE: sausage parties in pools or at home, the ol’ sheet-with-a-hole game, racy fetish gear, true love, freedom, modern Dutch psychedelia, blondes, contemporary Indonesian architecture, angry Jenny, graffiti, sex, and Ukraïna

TISSUE is magazine full of oversexed newcomers and the shaky old hands of erotic photography taking sex to the unsexiest of places.

Support!

Dear all,
“dienacht” #1 was first published about 6 years ago; 13 regular issues and 3 special issue have been published, and I still enjoy a lot discovering new and older works and making the magazine. “dienacht” has fans all around the world and many older issues are completely sold out.

But one thing never changed: “dienacht” is still a non-profit one-man-magazine, and when I say “non-profit”, I mean: I can hardly pay the printing costs (it’s printed local). Considering the periodicity, circulation of only 1000 (numbered!) copies, low selling price and high printing costs (and not to talk about the time and energy required for doing the magazine), “dienacht” will never become a commercial magazine. Still, it would be a bit relaxing not to thinking every time about how and if I can gather enough funding for paying for the production of the next issue.

There are many ways to supporting “dienacht”: write a review if you have the opportunity, or recommend dienacht to friends having this opportunity; buy one or several issues (“dienacht” is a timeless portfolio magazine); sell “dienacht” in your bookshop, gallery, store, café, …; advertise in a printed issue or on the website/blog; or spread the word about “dienacht” and share this. I’m happy about every kind of support.

Thank you,
calin
